This is NOT my makeup collection, but fun to look at :) (Source)
I've been fond of beauty products from a young age. My earliest memory is watching my sweet Mama apply her lipstick during her getting ready routine. I wanted to wear makeup and be like her so badly! She would bend down and give me a kiss on the lips so I could share a little of her lip color, too. I felt so cute and grown up. My grandmas and all seven of my aunties loved makeup; some of them being Avon and Mary Kay representatives in their day. I picked up the wonders of highlighter from Melissa, the ombre lip from Myrtle, overdone blush from Bobby, flawless foundation from Pearlette, the magic of cold cream from Louise, sexy polished nails from Grandma Rose and the power of a classic red lip from Grandma Elsie D herself. It always made me feel good when the aunties deemed me as the baddest chick in the family when it came to applying makeup.
Lately, I've been fine tuning my daily wear beauty products and trashing expired items. I've also been in the market for a few new eyeshadow palette additions as my current ones are definitely worn out and past their prime. Today, I'll share what's in my makeup bag!
Prep and Prime
I learned over the years that a little bit of skin prep can go a long way when making your makeup looks last all day and into the night. Here's what I use to keep skin clean and get ready for the beat!
Cedaphil Daily Facial Cleanser Recommended long ago to help combat my combination dry and yet somehow oily skin, this cleanser leaves my face clean and oil-free without drying me out. The texture is thick, with a no suds cleanse.
Clean & Clear Dual Action Moisturizer To further combat the oily t-zone area and still get non-greasy moisture, this is my go-to.
E.L.F. Power Grip Primer When fine lines started showing up and making my cream products settle in the small wrinkles, this product works like a charm! I thick gel that smooths over the skin leaving a flawless and even makeup application for foundation, concealer and highlighter. When I can, I get the Jelly Pop version of this which has a nice watermelon scent and cute packaging.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Eye Primer Whether it's a simple every day look or bold and colorful concoction, this primer allows even the cheapest of eyeshadows, be pigmented and last all day.
Flawless Face
L'Oreal True Match N7 Classic Tan is my perfect match. I've been using this for years; no more mixing two colors and spending twice the money. The best part, it's full coverage and matte finish.
L'Oreal True Match Pressed Powder W6 Sun Beige This pressed powder lasts longer before I hit pan. more than any other. Lovely matte finish.
Maybelline Fit Me Foundation 334 Warm Sun This is my backup color, when I can't find my L'Oreal. It's slightly darker and more yellow toned, but evens out after pressed powder.
Maybelline Fit Me Pressed Powder 310 Sun Beige The backup!
L.A. Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer in Cool Tan Thick, creamy and full coverage. A little goes a long way and super affordable!
Black Radiance Soft Focus Finishing Powder in Milk Chocolate My perfect matte bronzer
Wet n Wild MegaGlo Loose Highlighter in Hustle N Glow One of the brightest highlighters I've ever used! The finely milled powder makes for a smooth and even application every time and the price is unbeatable. This container has lasted me a very long time, so there may be a new packaged version of this.
MAC Extra Dimension Skinfinish in Show Gold When I want something extra fun, this duo chrome highlighter is it! Peach that shifts to a magenta pink tone. It looks gorgeous on overdone blush.
E.L.F. Brow Lift This clear gel acts like glue to keep my brow hairs perfectly in place. No sticky residue and dries clear. A new product to my routine and I'm not sure how I've lived this long without it. After this, I fill in my brows with any ole brown eyeshadow for a fuller look.
Ruby Kisses 3D Face Creator in No. 9 This double split pan foundation and concealer is the absolute best consistency for lining my brows and giving me that freshly arched look. Blends out beautifully and doubles as an eyeshadow primer in a pinch.
Easy On The Eyes
Maybelline Great Lash Lots Of Lashes Mascara in Blackest Black
Maybelline Tattoo Studio Gel Pencil Eyeliner in Deep Onyx or Bold Brown
That's all folks!
It seems like a long list but I can keep all of these items in one cosmetic bag (sans the face cleanser and moisturizer). Next time, I'll details my eyeshadow collection.
